Today Lenovo finally revealed its second generation of gaming smartphone, the Lenovo Legion 2 Pro. In order for the smartphone to wipe the floor against enemies and rivals in games, they offered the most powerful hardware, an advanced cooling system, a good high refresh rate display, a large battery, with an excess of RAM, and a good stereo speaker. The smartphone will launch in Europe alongside China.


The phone features a 6.92-inch FHD+ ( 2448 x 1080 pixels) Samsung  E4 Super AMOLED Display with up to 144Hz refresh rate, 24.3ms touch latency (touch to photon response), 720Hz touch sampling rate, and an in-display fingerprint sensor. This is a 20.5:9 aspect ratio panel. This display also has a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, 395 PPI, Delta-E<1 color precision, and 1300 nits peak brightness. The screen supports 8-bit HDR10+ and includes 111% and 150.89% of DCI-P3 and sRGB color gamuts respectively. And there is Gorilla Glass 5 covering it.

As expected, the device is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC. The whole lineup supported LPDDR5 RAM with 8GB of RAM on the base model and 18GB of RAM on the highest configuration. There is also a 16GB RAM variant. The flash storage is UFS 3.1 & it starts at 128GB and goes up to 512GB.

Talking about the camera, the device features a dual-camera setup on the rear, the primary camera is an OmniVision 64MP sensor with f/1.9 aperture, 1.0 µm pixel size and it comes along with a 16MP sensor with f/2.2  aperture, 123° ultrawide angle camera. There is no telephoto camera, depth sensor,  or macro camera. The front camera has been upgraded to a 44MP f/2.0 sensor but it still pops out from the center of the frame. The device can record in 8K @ 24 fps and 4K @ 60fps. It can also shoot slow-motion videos in 1080p @ 240fps and shoot photos in RAW format. It also supports Audio Zoom.

You receive front-firing dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support and a game mode that improves the in-game sound experience. There are four microphones for noise reduction algorithms and a dual smart amplifier. On the connectivity front, these smartphones support 5G, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and dual-frequency GPS, Globass, Galileo, BeiDou, QZSS, NavIC. As for ports, as stated earlier, the devices do not have a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Under the hood, the Legion Phone 2 Pro features a 5500mAh battery (split into two cells) and it supports a maximum of 90W fast charging via two USB-C ports. But, you get a 65W charger in the box which is nevertheless incredibly fast by today’s standard.

One of the unique highlights of the Legion Phone 2 Pro is its dual-turbo fan active cooling technology. One is an intake fan with 29 blades and a 12,500 RPM speed while the other is an exhaust fan that takes out the hot air. It also has 29 blades but its RPM is slightly higher at 15,000. Lenovo states that the fans have a noise level of 24.7dB and a spin for up to 50,000 hours which is about 6 years.

That is not the only cooling method implemented on this device. Lenovo has also included a vapor chamber for liquid cooling. The device also sports four ultrasonic shoulder trigger, dual capacitance keys & dual force touch sensors.

Price and Availability

The phone is available in two color options, Ultimate Black and Titanium White. And comes in various configurations, some of which are restricted to certain regions and countries. Below are their prices for the different regions and countries:

8GB RAM + 128GB = RMB 3699 (~$565)

12GB RAM + 128GB = RMB 4099 (~$625)

12GB RAM + 256GB = 799 EURO/RMB 4399 (~$672)

16GB RAM + 512GB =  999 EURO/RMB 5299 (~$809)

18GB RAM + 512GB = RMB 5999 (~$916)

Lenovo has told that availability in the US market is “to be determined”. It will be open for purchase in Europe and the Asia Pacific regions in May.
