The Redmi K40 Gaming Enhanced Edition is the first attempt from Redmi to narrow the gap between gaming product & low cost.  After months of leaks & rumors, finally today Redmi revealed its first-ever gaming smartphone at a launch event in China. The Redmi K40 Gaming Enhanced Edition utilizes an metal middle frame and fifth-generation Corning Gorilla Glass on the front and rear. On the rear, it features a dual-eye camera module + glossy yet matte finish. As for gamer-ish design accent,  the device comes with a so-called Pulse atmosphere RGB lighting that can be customized by software and a lightning shaped flashlight. There are three colors available for this device including  “Silver Wing”, “Light Blade” and “Dark Shadow”.

The Redmi K40 Gaming Enhanced Edition is one of the thinnest gaming phones of this year! It is only 8.3mm thick and weighs around 205 g which is astonishing considering it's a gaming phone. and because of this, the brand could solve the gaming phones being heavy as a brick. But, the relatively slim design didn’t hit the battery capacity. Interestingly,  The handset features a 5065mAh large battery, which supports 67W flash charging which is larger than its other K40 sibling & it also charges twice as fast then them. You will also get various accessories that optimized gaming in mind: a unique “L-shaped” USB-A to USB-C cable,  GaN charger that has a thin and light body.


Just like other Redmi K40 series smartphones, Redmi has not compromised on the display of the Redmi K40 Gaming Enhanced Edition. The device equips a Samsung E4 AMOLED flat screen. It has a very thin 1.8mm three-sided bezel width as well as a 2.7mm ultra-narrow chin. The main star of the show is the Dimensity 1200 chipset from MediaTek, which will have to take on the most difficult games found on Android. This SoC is manufactured utilizing a 6 nm process with 8 cores, The Dimensity 1200 configuration comprises 8 cores featuring "1 + 3 + 4" core configuration, the prime one being Cortex-A78, which clocked at 3.0 GHz. Additionally, 3 more Cortex-A78 cores with a frequency of 2.6 GHz and 4 energy-efficient Cortex-A55 cores operating at a frequency of 2.0 GHz. The Redmi K40 Gaming Enhanced Edition utilizes Redmi’s biggest heat dissipation technology to date. It has a fully covered 11540mm² area with composite heat radiation film, which can lower the body temperature of the phone by 2°C in seconds. This device is also the first to has a boron nitride heat-dissipating substance to resolve the inconsistency between 5G signal and heat dissipation.

Although gaming smartphones don’t offer strong camera performance, the Redmi's first gaming phone can be an exception. The Redmi K40 Gaming Enhanced Edition has a triple camera setup on the rear & the device features the industry’s first ED ultra-low dispersion optical glass lens. The main camera is a 64-megapixel sensor with f/1.65 aperture and it is paired with an 8 megapixel 120° ultrawide snapper and a 2 megapixel 40 mm macro lens. Just like any other Xiaomi device, the camera app is packed with lots of software features. On the front side, there is a 20-megapixel selfie camera. 


The Redmi K40 Gaming Enhanced Edition is available in five configurations. The device is already available for pre-order and the the initial official sales of this device start from April 30 at 10 AM local time. Below are their price tags:
