Utmost performance is at the forefront when it comes to gaming phones. The bet on the speed & performance of the SoC, display, and extreme gameplay will be offered in the Redmi's new gaming smartphone. Today the brand's officially declared that it will be launched on April 27 and it will be a special version of Redmi K40 dubbed "Redmi K40 – Game Enhanced Edition". The announcement was accompanied by a promotional poster displaying the rear part of a smartphone.

The brand states it will be a pretty lightweight and thin device; unlike your typical “hardcore gaming phone” and intended for those looking for a flagship experience, great control, greater audio, and video playback performance, with the best value for money. The promotional poster reveals that on the right side of the Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition will house triggers and a special button, most probably to switch the game mode. The rear camera setup will feature three large image sensors, where the top and bottom will be haloed by the LED backlighting.


According to the latest rumors and reports, Redmi's first gaming phone will equip a Samsung E4 AMOLED flat screen. This panel support features like a 144Hz refresh rate, 480Hz touch sampling rate, and a round hole in the center of the upper part for a selfie camera just like other devices from the K40 family.

Coming to the battery, the smartphone features a 5000mAh battery which will be fast-charged at 67W. This gaming-centric smartphone will be utilized by magnetic-powered mechanical shoulder buttons similar to those found on the  Black Shark gaming smartphones.

The main star of the show is the Dimensity 1200 chipset from MediaTek, which will have to take on the most difficult games found on Android. This SoC is manufactured utilizing a 6 nm process with 8 cores, The Dimensity 1200 configuration comprises 8 cores featuring "1 + 3 + 4" core configuration, the prime one being Cortex-A78, which clocked at 3.0 GHz. Additionally, 3 more Cortex-A78 cores with a frequency of 2.6 GHz and 4 energy-efficient Cortex-A55 cores operating at a frequency of 2.0 GHz. The Mali-G77 MC9 GPU is responsible for graphics processing & game at great efficiency. The SoC has received support for MediaTek HyperEngine 3.0 technology, which aims to boost performance in games.

And by tradition, the brand will like to decrease the price. Lu Weibing, the head of Redmi said that “we will follow the brand’s mission to give maximum performance at an affordable price; so that users get professional-level gaming experience and enjoy its pure worth”. We expected it to priced at RMB1999, the same as vanilla K40.
