XIAOMI RE-LAUNCHING 2 YEAR OLD REDMI NOTE 8 WITH MEDIATEK HELIO G85 SoC

After launching over 20+ new devices in the first five months of 2021, Xiaomi is now going in another route. They are now re-launching their old phone. A few days ago, Xiaomi announced on their official Twiter account that they are re-releasing 2 year old Redmi note 8. This is weird considering Xiaomi already released Note 8's successor, the Note 9 & Note 10 series.

According to Xiaomi, the OG Redmi Note 8 turned out to be one of the most successful in the entire history of the Redmi Note lineup. Selling over 25 million copies worldwide. The model's success and decent sales pushed the company to release another version of the Redmi Note 8 in 2021.

And today Xiaomi teases the design & the SoC which will be powering Redmi Mote 8 (2021) Edition.

DESIGN

To no one's surprise, the design of the Redmi Note 8 (2021) is totally identical to the original  Redmi Note 8. That means a 6.4-inch Dot-drop display on the front, plastic frame, Rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, left sided  quad camera array. In 2021 this may look like an outdated design but considering the price point this device will come to, we don't mind this design that much.

HELIO G85 IS POWERING THE REDMI NOTE 8 (2021)

After lots of rumors & leaks, today Xiaomi officially announced that Redmi Note 8 2021 variant will be power by MediaTek's Helio G85 chipset. Helio G85 is a pretty powerful mid-range chipset comprising two powerful Cortex-A75  core at 2.0 GHz & six power efficient Cortex-A55 core at 1.8 GHz. As for graphics, Mali-G52 MC2 is handling this duty.

Other rumored specs are a 4000 mAh battery with fast 22.5w fast charging, MIUI 12.5 on top of Android 11, and a primary 48-megapixel sensor as the rear primary camera.
